Mark was born in London and raised in Suffolk in a musical family. His father was an amateur pianist and drummer and Mark was naturally drawn to music, listening to Jazz and Classical records that he found around the house. Mark first picked up a pair of drumsticks at about age 4 but also went on to studied cello at school, before embarking on a career playing the drums for a living from age 17. Mark toured Europe and the Middle East extensively in pop covers bands and also worked in theatres & local big bands.
He was always very aware of the power of music in film from an early age and it is Mark’s upbringing and eclectic mix of musical taste which has enabled him to composer in and a variety of musical genres. Mark has many years’ experience playing sessions on drums and has recently completed a film scoring & music course at Goldsmiths University under Mariano Nunez-West.
Mark primarily composes on keyboard and cello and his love of rhythm & playing drums means that he often utilises subtle poly-rhythmic phrases in his work.
